We are delighted to officially announce the North American premiere of Project Origin: For King and Con, taking place at KupoCon: Metropom in Vancouver, or more specifically Burnaby, British Columbia, on Sunday, November 8th, 2026.
This long-anticipated documentary, which delves into the heart and history of KupoCon, will screen in the evening following Community and Franchise Day. After two years of production, we’re incredibly proud to bring this emotional and revealing project to our North American community.
The screening will be held at the Cineplex Metropolis, located just a few minutes’ walk from the main event venue. Doors will open at 6:30pm, with the film beginning promptly at 7:00pm. The runtime is approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes. Please note that this is a strictly 18+ event. This experience is designed to be an intimate celebration of the journey we’ve all taken together — raw, honest, and entirely unique.
In addition to the film, we will be offering a selection of exclusive merchandise, specially created for the screening. These items will be available prior to the event, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or a curious newcomer, these commemoratives are a one-time opportunity to own a piece of KupoCon history.
Tickets for the screening are available as an add-on through the ticket portal when purchasing your Metropom tickets. Please note that attendance at KupoCon: Metropom is required in order to attend the screening.
We hope you’ll join us for this very special evening as we finally bring Project Origin to North America — a love letter to the fans, the moments, and the magic that have defined our journey.
Important times:
Doors: 6:30pm
Screening: 7:00pm
Runtime approx. 2hrs 20mins
Dress Code: Smart Casual
We want this to feel like a special evening, but also comfortable and accessible for everyone. As long as you’re smartly dressed and presentable, you’re good to go.
Think of it as making a bit of an effort — something you’d wear for a nice night out or a casual premiere.
What works well:
✔ Smart shirts, polos, or neat tees paired with trousers or clean jeans
✔ Casual dresses, blouses, skirts, or jumpsuits
✔ Trainers, shoes, or boots that are clean and in good condition
✔ Light layers like jackets, blazers, or cardigans
✔ Accessories and wigs are absolutely welcome — feel free to add a bit of personality
What to avoid:
❌ Very casual or worn clothing (e.g. heavily ripped jeans, loungewear, flip-flops)
❌ Sportswear or gym attire
❌ Cosplay — we love it, just not for this particular event as we’re aiming for a more premiere-style atmosphere
❌ Illuminated items such as LED accessories
This is still a premiere screening, so we encourage you to dress up a little and enjoy the occasion — just without the pressure of being overly formal.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone there!
Behaviour & Screening Etiquette
First and foremost, this is a movie premiere, please treat it with the appropriate level of decorum.
Mobile Phones & Devices: Once the movie begins, all mobile phones and electronic devices must be turned off or set to silent mode. The glow of a screen or an unexpected sound can be highly disruptive and diminish the immersive experience for those around you. Before and after, you may use them as much as you like and we encourage you to capture the moment.
No Recording or Photography: Recording or photographing any portion of the film is strictly prohibited. Not only does this compromise the integrity of the film, but it also violates copyright laws. We ask all guests to respect this rule to preserve the experience for everyone.
Silence During the Screening: Talking, excessive reactions, or unnecessary noise will not be tolerated. This is a shared experience, and any disruptions will result in removal from the screening.
Applause & Reactions: While we appreciate enthusiasm, we kindly request that applause and excessive expressions of appreciation be reserved until the credits to ensure that every moment of the film is experienced without interruption. Of course, we understand that expressing emotions is part of the experience, just try to be conscious of those around you.
Content Advisory: Please be advised that Project Origin contains material that some viewers may find distressing. The documentary addresses sensitive topics, including strong language, self-harm, suicide, drug use, abuse, and depression. Due to the mature nature of its content, the screening is strictly for adults only. If you suffer from severe anxiety or are sensitive to intense subject matter, this screening may not be suitable for you. Viewer discretion is advised.
Special Guests: This screening will be attended by many familiar faces, including individuals involved in the Final Fantasy series. While we encourage you to socialise and enjoy the evening, we ask that you respect their space and the nature of this event. Please allow all guests to experience the screening without interruption and uphold the professionalism expected at a premiere.
We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining the right atmosphere for this special occasion.
