WHAT IS KUPOCON?

KupoCon is a celebration crafted by passionate Final Fantasy enthusiasts for fellow fans of the series. Whether your affection lies with the entire series or specific games within it, KupoCon welcomes you with open arms. Diverging from the conventional convention experience, our event fosters an atmosphere where attendees instantly feel enveloped in a community of friends. Attendees often liken KupoCon to an expansive Final Fantasy-themed birthday bash, where the joy of shared fandom takes center stage.

LISTEN TO MY STORY…

In March 2016, KupoCon made its grand debut, emerging as a fan-driven event tailored specifically for enthusiasts of the Final Fantasy series. Remarkably, within a mere 12 months of its inaugural announcement, two events successfully unfolded—one in Europe and the other in North America. This marked the inception of a series of over a dozen subsequent KupoCon gatherings.

At its core, KupoCon follows a straightforward yet impactful premise: delivering an event centered around fans while retaining key elements reminiscent of traditional conventions. While some familiar aspects remain, those fortunate enough to attend can attest to the remarkable distinctions that make each KupoCon experience truly extraordinary.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS…

Where is KupoCon?
KupoCon is a dynamic, globe-trotting fan extravaganza. In our quest to connect with as many series enthusiasts as possible, we’ve traversed North America and Europe, successfully hosting events that have garnered the attendance of over 17,000 fans. Check the “Events” tab above to discover if a KupoCon is happening near you!

Is this an official Final Fantasy event?
No. KupoCon is a Final Fantasy fan event produced by fans of the series. It is not endorsed, sanctioned or in any other way supported directly or indirectly by Square Enix, and its respected partners. Final Fantasy, characters, names and related indicia are trademarks and copyright of SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD.

Are Square Enix aware of this event?
Absolutely. Square Enix knows about KupoCon. When we announced our event, we reached out to their North American and European representatives, sharing our intentions transparently. Although KupoCon operates independently, we are always open to dialogue with Square Enix, respecting their brand and ensuring our actions align with their values.

Where did KupoCon come from?
After witnessing the success of small fan gatherings in various parts of Europe, we saw an opportunity to take it to the next level. We announced the event online in early 2016, and the project gained momentum rapidly from there. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to KupoCon.

Who makes KupoCon?
KupoCon is brought to life by a dedicated team led by an international events organizer. Everyone involved in the project is a fan of the series and loves putting together these kinds of events. With decades of combined experience, we’re able to create a fully immersive experience. Don’t just take our word for it—check out the feedback from attendees on our numerous social media channels.

What about currently established fan events?
We carefully select KupoCon locations to avoid stepping on the toes of established fan gatherings. The only official event right now is the Final Fantasy XIV fan fest and certain launch parties. We respect the hard work of fellow organizers and encourage collaboration rather than competition.

You call this a fan event and not a convention. Why?
KupoCon deviates from the traditional convention mold. While offering familiar elements like an artist alley and cosplay contests, it delivers a distinctive experience—intimate, immersive, and inclusive. These three pillars define the unique ambiance that sets KupoCon apart.

Is this a for-profit event?
KupoCon isn’t driven by profit. While ticket sales are necessary to cover the significant financial investment required for event production, any surplus funds, if there are any, will be reinvested in future events and projects.
