Let’s Get Physical, Kupo!
Many months ago, we spoke about how KupoCon would return after the pandemic. Even in the present day, however, COVID-19 continues to disrupt our day-to-day lives. But as parts of the world begin to see hope, we need to start looking forward too. We are all well aware of the impact this pandemic has had on mental health – and while we cannot return to conventions just yet, we can look at alternatives.
Our plans to return to physical content fall under “Project Flute”, as inspired by the travelling moogle on the world map of Final Fantasy IX. Ideas under discussion include campsites, outdoor gatherings, and other socially distanced activities. It is with great pleasure we can finally share the first of our plans for Europe and North America.
Today, we start with the UK. We are thrilled to announce we will be hosting a special KupoCon pop-up shop and drop-in centre in London from September 17–19. However, we shan’t entice you with the shop alone! We’re working on a special quest log that can be obtained from there. It will encourage you to explore London, complete unique quests, and earn gil that can be redeemed at the shop.
Now for the pom (cherry) on top. On Saturday evening, September 18, we will host a special reunion event. This will be quite similar to a typical KupoCon afterparty. While you can expect all the usual excitement, the best part is that you will be surrounded by friends, many of whom you will not have seen over the past year or more.
Naturally, due to COVID-19, many safety factors will be implemented for this event to proceed. Your safety continues to be of paramount importance.
The pop-up will be free to access all weekend. We welcome you to stop by, browse our goods, and learn more about KupoCon. It’s also a great chance to say “Rally-ho” to our team, who are all looking forward to seeing you again!
Tickets for the reunion event will be available on July 7. Full details will be shared in a KupoCast episode at the end of June. Please note that tickets will be extremely limited for Saturday. Patrons will be given access to a limited pool of tickets 24 hours ahead of public release. A room block will be made available for attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.
We’ll talk more about North America soon, so stay tuned!
