What is KupoCon?
KupoCon is simply a Final Fantasy fan event, made by the fans of Final Fantasy. There are a number of small unofficial fan gatherings that take place in the western world, KupoCon takes it to the next level. We’ve successfully completed events in both Europe and North America and the feedback has been exceptional. We’re not focused on Generation Two of KupoCon.
Where is KupoCon?
KupoCon is a travelling event. In our first year we took our events to the outskirts of New York City in Newark, NJ and then followed up with an event in London, England. We’re currently working on events in Toronto, Canada and London, England. We’re working on more locations behind the scenes.
Is this an official Final Fantasy event?
KupoCon is a Final Fantasy fan event. It is not endorsed, sanctioned or in any other way supported directly or indirectly by Square Enix, and its respected partners. Final Fantasy, characters, names and related indicia are trademarks and copyright of SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD.
Are Square Enix aware of this event?
After our initial event announcement, we reached out to Square Enix in North America and Europe and explained our intentions in full. We provided them with further information about our event and we’ll continue to keep a dialogue open with them to make sure we stay on the right track. We thank them for allowing us to produce this event.
Will Square Enix be at the event?
Representatives of Square Enix have attended all of the KupoCon events to date.
Where did KupoCon come from?
After seeing how successful small fan gatherings were in parts of Europe and North America, we saw an opportunity to raise the bar and bring it to an entirely new level. We made an announcement for the event online in early 2016 and the project grew rapidly from there. We are very thankful to everyone who has contributed to KupoCon.
How much experience do you have?
KupoCon is created by a dedicated team led by an international events organizer. Everyone who works on the project is a fan of the series of a fan of producing these sorts of events. Together using many decades of skills, we’re able to produce a fully fledged production. You have no concerns when it comes to the quality of the event. Just check out our ratings!
What about currently established fan events?
Apart from the official Final Fantasy XIV fan fest, and several launch parties, all the other fan gatherings are pretty small. We obviously don’t want to stand on any toes, so we encourage current organizers of fan gatherings to get in touch. Already established fan events of 25 or more will be offered a special staging area at the event for their own private events. This way they keep their independence while benefiting from the size and scale of our events. This offer also extends to Free Companies and Linkshell Meet-ups for fans of XI & XIV. We want to work with the fans to create something memorable.
You call this a fan event and not a convention, why?
This is officially a fan event. We’ve been to a few conventions, and we know what people expect when it comes to venue & format. We don’t intend to follow the default path on this event, so that’s why we’re not referring to it as a convention. We want people to come to this event with an open mind and enjoy it for its unique qualities. That’s not to say it’s going to be so wildly different you won’t enjoy it. Don’t expect row upon row or merchants, but instead have space dedciated to content, activities and mischevious fun!
Is this a for-profit event?
The organizing body of KupoCon has no intention to make profit from this event. This production will be a massive financial undertaking, so we have to charge for tickets. Any funds remaining (if any) will be invested in the following events. In the unlikely event that the project doesn’t continue, we will donate any remaining funds.
If the event is cancelled, what happens?
We’ll refund your ticket. Promise.
